I have embarked (last week actually) on a pet project of mine and decided on using Adobe’s new AIR platform, with Flex as the coding environment. I am total newbie at most web programming (at PhatNoise and Harman everything I did was embedded C or Lua), but I really quite like Flex as a framework and AIR for handy OS integration. In one week I have already coded things that I thought would be much, much harder to do…

From a software managment standpoint, I have always been a fan of languages that are not verbose but still flexible enough to get what you need done. Scads of lower-level code to gain what is usually just a teeny bit of runtime performance is not worth all the human error. The world turns too quickly for that.

P.S. If anyone out there is a Flex / A.S.3 expert in the Los Angeles area, contact me – I am looking for a partner!
